Rock - Applying Paradiddles
Use your imagination and apply paradiddles to the drum set.
Applying Paradiddles to the Drum Set
Use your imagination and apply paradiddles to the drum set. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Paradiddle Downbeat Fill
Play regular paradiddles on the snare but play the downbeat on a tom or cymbal. The downbeat is the first R in RLRR and the first L in LRLL.
Paradiddle Multi-Drum Fill
Play one drum or cymbal with each hand.
Play paradiddles between your snare and bass foot while playing eighths on the hi-hat. This is a very funky beat.
Short Paradiddle Fill Beat
Because you can develop very fast paradiddles, you can utilize them in creative ways. The following example shows using a RLRRL single paradiddle with an ending note to add some spice to a slow or medium tempo rock beat.
